Why every 6 seconds

A short problem is easy to miss.

Many monitoring tools check once every five minutes. A slowdown that starts and ends between two checks never shows up, even though your customers felt it.

FishEye pings every 6 seconds by default, so the same slowdown leaves a run of readings. That is the default, not a limit: you can set the interval anywhere from 1 to 60 seconds, and your plan never changes it.
